Jamf Protect Deployment and Updates
You can complete a first deployment of the Jamf Protect PKG to computers using one of the following methods:

If the Automatically deploy the Jamf Protect PKG with plans checkbox is selected, the PKG is automatically deployed to any computers with a Jamf Protect plan configuration profile. No additional steps are needed.

If you manually downloaded and uploaded the PKG to Jamf Pro, you must use a policy.
Updates can be installed using one of the following methods:

If the Enable AutoUpdate checkbox is selected in the Jamf Protect plan settings, updates are installed automatically.

Manually by deploying the new Jamf Protect PKG using a policy.
Deploying the Jamf Protect Package Using a Policy
Requirements

Upload the Jamf Protect PKG to Jamf Pro.
For instructions, see the Jamf Protect Package Management section in this guide. -
Deploy plan configuration profiles to computers by configuring scope.
For instructions, see the Jamf Protect Plans in Jamf Pro section in this guide.
Procedure

In Jamf Pro, click Computers.

Click Policies.

Click New.

Use the General payload to configure the following basic settings for the policy:

Select the Enabled checkbox.

Select the Enrollment Complete and Recurring Check-in checkboxes to ensure the policy runs after enrollment.

Choose "Once per computer" from the Execution Frequency pop-up menu.

(Optional) Select the Automatically re-run policy on failure checkbox and configure policy retry settings.

Use the Packages payload to add the Jamf Protect PKG:

Click Packages and then click Configure.

Click Add for the Jamf Protect PKG that you previously uploaded to Jamf Pro.

Make sure Install is chosen from the Action pop-up menu.

(Optional) Use the rest of the payloads to configure additional tasks you want to perform.

Click the Scope tab and configure the scope of the policy. The Scope should match the scope of your plan configuration profiles.

Click Save.
The policy runs on computers in the scope the next time they contact Jamf Pro.
If data is being sent to the Jamf Protect Cloud, computers will begin reporting data in the Jamf Protect web app when they check in with Jamf Protect.
Jamf Protect Updates
When a new version of Jamf Protect is available, Jamf Pro will send users a notification in Jamf Pro and via email, if configured.
Updates can be installed using one of the following methods:

If the Enable AutoUpdate checkbox is selected in the Jamf Protect plan settings, updates are installed automatically.

Manually by deploying the new Jamf Protect PKG using a policy.
