Customize the App Using Jamf Pro

You can customize your app using the Applications & Custom Settings payload in computer configuration profiles in Jamf Pro. The payload offers you an area where you can directly enter the JSON Schema manifest for your app and then use the configurable settings generated by Jamf Pro to customize your app settings.

Customizing the App Using Jamf Pro

  1. Log in to Jamf Pro.

  2. Click Computers at the top of the page.

  3. Click Configuration Profiles.

  4. Click New.

  5. Use the General payload to configure basic settings, including the distribution method.

  6. Click the Application & Custom Settings payload, and then click Configure.

  7. Select Configure Settings for the Creation Method.

  8. Choose "Custom Schema" from the Source pop-up menu.

  9. Enter the preference domain for your app.
    Using the JSON Schema from the sample app as an example, the preference domain is the following:
    net.talkingmoose.diskmanager

  10. Copy the JSON Schema of your app to the Custom Schema field in Application Properties.

  11. To customize the properties using the Jamf Pro interface, click Properties.
    Jamf Pro displays a list of configurable settings based on the JSON Schema manifest.

  12. Add values to the managed keys to customize the app settings.

  13. Click the Scope tab and configure the scope of the profile.

  14. Click Save.

When you save the settings, Jamf Pro automatically distributes the configured properties to the target computers. You can view the plist of keys and values by clicking the </> button in the Application Properties settings.
