Setting the Wallpaper on Computers

You can set a wallpaper on a computer by using the Jamf School Self Service app or by distributing a package with a restriction profile.

Setting the Wallpaper Using Self Service

To set a wallpaper that is available in Self Service, click the Wallpaper menu item in Jamf School. Click Upload and upload the wallpaper, and then click Apply.

These wallpapers will be available in the Self Service app and can be installed by the user. For more information, see Jamf School Self Service for Computers.

Building a Package

To build your own package, see Building Packages. Add the wallpaper to the package in the following location: Users/Shared

Note: Make sure you have at least one application in this package.

Configuring a Wallpaper Profile

When configuring a wallpaper profile, you must first create a macOS profile before you configure the profile settings.

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Profiles in the sidebar.

  2. Click +Create Profile.

  3. Select macOS for the Platform.

  4. Select the type of enrollment you want to make the profile for.

  5. Enter a name in the Profile name field and configure the additional settings as needed, including the removal policy and time filter.

  6. Click Finish.

  7. To configure the profile settings, click the profile you want to configure.

  8. Use the Scope payload to configure the scope of the profile by clicking the + icon and adding device groups to the profile scope.

  9. Use the Restrictions payload to navigate to the Functionality tab.

  10. Select the Lock Desktop picture checkbox, and then enter the path to the wallpaper image in the Desktop picture path field.

  11. Click Save.

After a few minutes, the profile is assigned to the computers in the scope and automatically installs.
