Wallpaper

Using Jamf School, you can manage the wallpaper on mobile devices and computers.

Setting the Wallpaper on Mobile Devices

Requirements

To set a wallpaper on mobile devices, you need a wallpaper image, cropped to size.

It is recommended that you use a wallpaper image that matches the dimensions of the device's screen. For more information on mobile device screen sizes, see Displays from Apple's iOS Device Compatibility Reference and Technical Specifications from Apple's support website.

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Profiles in the sidebar.
  2. Click + Create Profile.
  3. Select iOS for the platform.
  4. Configure the required fields and optional fields as needed.
  5. Click Finish.
  6. Use the Scope payload to select the device groups you want to distribute the profile to.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Use the Wallpaper payload to configure the settings, including the following:
    1. Upload the wallpaper image to by dragging and dropping the file in the Upload new wallpaper field.
    2. Select the wallpaper image from the Select the wallpaper pop-up menu.
    3. Add additional text to the image by entering a variable or text in the Text to add to the image field.

  9. Click Save.

The devices in the scope immediately receive the configured wallpaper.

Setting the Wallpaper on Computers

Requirements
To set a wallpaper on a computer, you must build and distribute a package with the wallpaper to target computers. You must add the wallpaper to the package in the following location: Users/Shared. For more information, see Packages and In-House Content Distribution.
Note:

Make sure you have at least one application in this package.

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Profiles in the sidebar.
  2. Click + Create Profile.
  3. Select macOS for the Platform.
  4. Select the type of enrollment you want to make the profile for.
  5. Enter a name in the Profile name field and configure the additional settings as needed, including the removal policy and time filter.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. To configure the profile settings, click the profile you want to configure.
  8. Use the Scope payload to configure the scope of the profile by clicking the + icon and adding device groups to the profile scope.
  9. Use the Restrictions payload to navigate to the Functionality tab.
  10. Select the Lock Desktop picture checkbox, and then enter the path to the wallpaper image in the Desktop picture path field.
  11. Click Save.

After a few minutes, the profile is assigned to the computers in the scope and automatically installs.
