Overview

You can use Jamf platform products to connect, manage, and protect Mac computers in your organization. You can use Automated Device Enrollment (formerly DEP) to enroll computers with Jamf Pro, which allows you to manage computers and deploy the following Jamf platform products:

  • Jamf Connect—Create local accounts on Mac computers from a user's network account information and continuously sync local and network passwords.

  • Jamf Protect—Protect computers from threats, detect suspicious behavior, and gain visibility into native security tools on macOS.

Network Operation

Jamf Pro uses Cloud Services Connection and API integrations to make your Jamf product assets available in Jamf Pro.

Jamf Platform Integration Service

The Jamf Platform Integration Service is a Jamf-hosted service that allows Jamf Protect to integrate with Jamf Pro. After enabling the connection, Jamf Pro will allow you to complete a one-time registration process to integrate Jamf Protect with Jamf Pro. This allows you to download the latest version of the Jamf Protect package and configure scope for Jamf Protect plan configuration profiles directly from Jamf Pro.

The following network diagram shows how Jamf Pro communicates with these services:

To learn how to enable Cloud Services Connection, see the Cloud Services Connection section in the Jamf Pro Administrator's Guide.

Jamf Protect API

The Jamf Protect API is the primary resource for programmatically interacting with Jamf Protect. The Jamf Protect API uses GraphQL, an advanced query service and language that allows you to granularly search and access your data from a single endpoint.

The Jamf Protect API is used to sync Jamf Protect plans from Jamf Pro.
