Enabling 802.1X Wireless Debug Logging

Retrieving Debug Logs for Jamf Support in macOS 10.14 or Later

Beginning with macOS 10.14, it is recommended to use sysdiagnose for troubleshooting. With sysdiagnose, you can see all the EAPOL logging.

  1. On the computer with the network connection problems, hold down the Option key, and then click the Wi-Fi symbol in the menu bar.

  2. Choose Open Wireless Diagnostics. The Wireless Diagnostics assistant opens.

  3. Click Window in the menu bar, and then choose Logs.

  4. In the Logs window, select the Wi-Fi and EAPOL checkboxes.

  5. Close the Logs and Wireless Diagnostics windows.

  6. Try to connect to Wi-Fi again.

  7. After the Wi-Fi connection fails, open Terminal and execute the following command:

    sudo sysdiagnose -f ~/Desktop
  8. A gzipped file will open after a period of time.

  9. If you have not created a support ticket on Jamf Nation, create a ticket now and explain your issue.

  10. Attach the gzipped file to your support ticket and send it to Jamf Support.
