Apps Purchased in Volume

General Requirements

Apple School Manager must be integrated with Jamf School. For more information, see Volume Purchasing Integration.
To distribute custom apps, you must enable custom apps in Apple School Manager. For more information, see Select and buy content in Apple School Manager in the Apple School Manager User Guide.

After adding apps to Jamf School, you can distribute content to a single device.

The app is installed immediately on the device.

After adding apps and packages to Jamf School, you can distribute content to devices by scoping it to device groups.

In Jamf School, click Apps in the sidebar.
Click Inventory.
Select the checkboxes next to the apps and packages you want to distribute.
Click Edit Scope.
Enter one or more device groups you want to distribute the content to in the Scope field.
Choose one of the following installation methods from the Install Type pop-up menu:
- To install the app or package on devices automatically, choose Change to automatic installation for all groups.
- To allow users to install the app or package themselves, choose Change to on-demand installation for all groups.
Choose the assignment method from the Volume Assignment Method pop-up menu.
Click Save.

The app or package is available on the devices the next time they check in with Jamf School.
