Updating iOS

You can use Jamf School to manage how and when iOS updates are applied. Update support and requirements depend on the iOS version of the device. On devices with iOS 10.3 or later, you can update all supervised devices, including those with a passcode, using Jamf School. Devices enrolled using a method other than Automated Device Enrollment (formerly DEP) are prompted to accept Terms and Conditions before updating iOS. On devices with iOS 9–10.2, only devices enrolled via Automated Device Enrollment can be updated using Jamf School.

Viewing Available Updates

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Organization > Settings in the sidebar.

  2. Use the General payload to select the Automatically check for iOS updates checkbox.

  3. Click Save.

By default, the devices are checked for updates every hour. You can manually check devices for updates by navigating to the device details and clicking Refresh.
