Removing a Device from Jamf School

In order to completely remove a device from the Jamf School, you must unenroll it first. After the device is no longer managed, you can remove it from the system. No management can be performed until the device is enrolled again.

Unenrolling the Device

Unenrolling a device removes the MDM profile, all installed profiles, and managed apps when “Remove this app when the management profile is removed” is enabled.

Unenrolling a Device Using Jamf School

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Devices > Overview in the sidebar.

  2. Search for the device you want to unenroll and click its name.

  3. Click Unenroll, and then click Unenroll Device.
The device will be marked as "Unmanaged" and the MDM profile will be deleted from the device automatically when possible.

Unenrolling a Device On the Device

If the device is not online, you can manually remove the MDM profile on the device.

  1. On the device, navigate to Settings > General > Device Management.

  2. Select “Jamf School Management”, and then click Remove to delete the management profile and any managed configuration profiles installed via Jamf School.

Note: If your device was enrolled via Automated Device Enrollment (formerly DEP), you must either remove the profile tied to this device in Devices > DEP Overview or unassign the device from the Jamf School MDM in Apple School Manager.

Removing the Device

Removing a device is irreversible and can only be performed on unmanaged devices.

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Devices > Overview in the sidebar.

  2. Search for the device you want to unenroll and click its name.

  3. Click Move to trash, and then click OK.
