Quick Action Commands for Device Management

Quick action commands allow you to remotely perform tasks on mobile devices and computers using Jamf School. You can send a quick action command to a single device. Some commands can also be sent to multiple devices at once using bulk quick action commands.

Note: The quick action commands available for a particular device vary depending on the device ownership type, device platform, device type, and OS version.

The following table describes the quick action commands that you can send from Jamf School:

Clears the restrictions set by Screen Time on the device

Locks the device when a passcode is set on the device

Clear Teacher Restrictions

Clears restrictions set by teachers using Jamf School Teacher on the device

Turn Bluetooth On/Off

Enables or disables Bluetooth

Turn Personal Hotspot On/Off

Enables or disables Personal Hotspot

Turn Data Roaming On/Off

Enables or disables Data Roaming

Enable/Disable Lost Mode

Enables Lost Mode on the device if it is connected to a network. This also gives you an accurate location of the device.

Restart

Restarts the device

Shutdown

Shuts down the device

Wipe Device

Permanently erases data and settings on the device

You can also choose to clear Activation Lock or allow proximity setup.

Un-enroll

Stops communication between the mobile device and the Jamf School, which means you can no longer perform management tasks on the device

When you unmanage a device, the following items are removed from the device:

  • MDM profile

  • Device certificate

  • Any configuration profiles that were distributed with Jamf School

  • Any managed apps that were distributed with Jamf School

Move to Trash

Moves the device to trash and removes any license assigned to it

This command does not remove perpetual licenses.

Clear Activation Lock

Removes Activation Lock from the device

Device must have an Activation Lock Bypass code reported.

Sending Quick Action Commands

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Devices in the sidebar.

  2. Click the device you want to send the quick action command to.

  3. In the device details pane, select the quick action command you want to send from the sidebar.

Sending Bulk Quick Action Commands

You can send quick action commands to multiple devices at once by using bulk quick action commands.

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Devices in the sidebar.

  2. Select the devices you want to send the bulk quick action command to.

  3. Select the bulk quick action commands you want to send.
