Enrollment Settings

Enrollment is the process of adding computers and mobile devices to Jamf School. The Enrollment settings in Jamf School allow you to specify settings that apply to all enrolled devices, such as the following:

  • Configure which locations the enrollment settings apply to

  • Automatically enable Activation Lock

  • Enable Apple Configurator and on-device enrollment authentication

  • Configure location settings

  • Rename devices

Configuring Enrollment Settings

Requirements

To configure the Locations and Location Options settings, you must set up locations in Jamf School. For more information, see Creating Locations in Jamf School.

To configure authentication during enrollment, you must configure the Authentication settings. For more information, see the following sections in this guide:

Procedure

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Organization > Settings in the sidebar.

  2. Click Enrollment.

  3. Choose one of the following:

    • To allow each location in your environment to configure independent Enrollment settings, choose "Do not force these settings for locations" from the pop-up menu at the top of the pane.

    • To ensure all locations in your environment use these Enrollment settings, choose "Force these settings for locations" from the pop-up menu at the top of the pane.

  4. To configure which regions devices can enroll from, choose an option from the Enrollment Restrictions pop-up menu.

  5. To enable Activation Lock on devices enrolled using on-device enrollment or User Enrollment, select the Automatically enable Activation Lock on non-DEP devices checkbox.

  6. To assign the currently logged in user to the placeholder device, select the Keep current assigned owner if no owner is configured in a placeholder checkbox.

  7. To automatically move enrolled devices to the trash after the MDM profile is removed, choose an option from the Automatic Trash pop-up menu.

  8. To allow users to enter any password for the Apple School Manager password, select the Disable password check for users that have been imported from ASM checkbox.

    Note: It is recommended that you select this setting if you are using local authentication.

  9. To allow users to authenticate during Apple Configurator enrollment, select the Apple Configurator Authentication checkbox.

    Note: Users authenticate using the credentials configured in the Authentication settings in Jamf School. To view these settings, navigate to Organization > Settings > Authentication.

  10. To allow users to authenticate during on-device enrollment, select the On Device Enrollment Authentication checkbox.

  11. Configure the locations setting by choosing a setting in the Locations settings.

  12. To automatically rename devices without a placeholder name or a name specified in an Automated Device Enrollment profile, select the Enable Renaming Devices checkbox and enter the new name in the Rename to... field.

  13. Click Save.
