Distributing App Store apps to macOS clients is only possible with apps and books purchased in Apple School Manager (formerly VPP).
Distributing macOS apps to computers involves the following steps:
Enable volume purchasing in Jamf School
Buy one or more macOS apps Apps and Books in Apple School Manager
Define a scope and start distributing apps

Purchasing macOS Apps in Apple School Manager
You must purchase macOS apps in Apple School Manger before distributing them to computers. For more information on how to select and buy content in Apple School Manager, see the Apple School Manager User Guide. The apps automatically populate the Apps page in Jamf School a few minutes after they are purchased.
After purchasing apps, you can distribute them to computers in a device group. For more information on how to distribute apps to a device group, see Distributing Apps and Books.
