Clearing Activation Lock
Activation Lock is a feature that protects devices by linking a user's Managed Apple ID to a device. If a device is wiped or restored, the user's Managed Apple ID and password are required to unlock the device. When a school deploys supervised devices with Jamf School and an employee or student leaves without removing their Managed Apple ID, Jamf School can provide an Activation Lock bypass code to unlock the device. This allows the school to set up the device for a new user.
General Requirements
To use Activation Lock, you need the following:
-
Supervised mobile devices with iOS 7.1 or later
-
Supervised computers with macOS 10.15 or later

Managed Apple IDs in Apple School Manager (For more information, see the Turn on and test federated authentication in Apple School Manager and Create Managed Apple IDs in Apple School Manager topics in the Apple School Manager User Guide.)
-
