Assigning Asset Tags to Devices
Asset tags can be used to easily identify your devices or to link them to your existing inventory system. The asset tags are shown in the devices overview and on the devices details page in the "Inventory Details" section. Additionally, you can use a device's asset tag in profiles, device names, and wallpapers by using the %AssetTag% variable.

Assigning an Asset Tag Using a Placeholder
You can assign asset tags to devices manually or by using a placeholder. For more information on how to assign asset tags by using a placeholder, see Adding a Placeholder Device.
Manually Assigning an Asset Tag

In Jamf School, navigate to Devices > Devices in the sidebar.

Click the device name in the device overview pane.

Click Edit Details in the upper-right corner of the device details pane.

Enter an asset tag in the Asset Tag field.

Click Save.
