Computer Management

The Computers page displays all computers in your organization with the Jamf Protect agent. You can sort and search all computers using the following criteria:

  • Labels

  • Jamf Protect agent version

  • Computer tags

  • macOS version

  • Computer model

  • Last check in

  • Last Insight reported

Computer Dashboards

You can view an individual computer's dashboard by clicking on it from the computers pane. A computer's dashboard displays all recent alerts, an insights report card, and the computer's current plan and version of the Jamf Protect agent.

Computer Management Capabilities

Jamf Protect allows you to do the following with computers:

  • Change the plan on computers

  • Add labels and tags to computers for filtering and sorting in the web app

  • Delete computers

Note:

Deleting computers only removes the computers from the UI until the next check-in. It does not remove the Jamf Protect agent from computers.

Changing the Plan on a Computer

You can change the plan of any computers with the Jamf Protect agent installed.

Complete the following steps to change a computer's plan:

If you are using smart groups in Jamf Pro to configure scope for plans, using this method to change an individual computer's plan is not recommended. For more information about configuring the scope of Plans in Jamf Pro, see the Jamf Protect Integration with Jamf Pro section of the Jamf Pro Administrator's Guide.

  1. In Jamf Protect, click Computers in the sidebar.
  2. Select the computer for which you want to change Plans.
  3. Click the Plan tab.
  4. Select a new Plan from the Select a New Plan pop-up menu.
    Note:

    You must have more than one Plan available in Jamf Protect to apply a new Plan.

  5. Click Apply Plan to Computer.

The computer receives the new plan from Jamf Protect.

Adding Labels and Tags to Computers

You can apply labels and tags to computers, which allow you to easily search and filter computers in the Jamf Protect web app. Complete the following steps to add labels or tags:

  1. Log in to Jamf Protect.
  2. Click computers from the left navigation menu.
  3. Select the computer for which you want to change plans.
  4. Click the Edit tab.
  5. Complete the Label field.
  6. Add any relevant tags in the Tags field.
  7. Click Save.
