Updating a Deployed Custom App for iPad and iPhone

This article details the process of updating a custom app deployed to managed mobile devices.

  1. Log in to Jamf Now.
  2. Click on Apps.
  3. Upload the new version of your custom app into Jamf Now.
  4. Assign the new custom app to the Blueprint that already has the previous version of the app assigned.

    A Blueprint can only have one version of a given app assigned at a time, so assigning a new app version to the Blueprint replaces the old version.

Jamf Now will send an install command to the device(s) with the new app version. Assuming the app developer built their app within Apple guidelines, this will replace the app itself while preserving local user data.

Devices associated with the Blueprint will install the new version of the app during the next Inventory.
