Device Assignments Setup

Jamf Now cannot configure email settings until a device is assigned with a name and email address. You can assign a name and email address to a device before or after it enrolls via Automated Device Enrollment. To assign an email address, email must be turned on in Jamf Now. For more information, see Setting Up Email.

Assigning a Device Before Enrolling via Automated Device Enrollment

  1. Log in to Jamf Now.
  2. Click Auto-Enrollment.
  3. Click View Devices.
  4. Click the Action pop-up menu (•••) next to any serial number, and then click Assign Device.
  5. Fill out fields with the information for the desired user.
  6. Click Assign Device.
This will configure a user's email settings automatically during initial enrollment.

Assigning a Device After Enrolling with Automated Device Enrollment

  1. Log in to Jamf Now.
  2. Click Devices.
  3. Click the device you want to assign.
  4. Click Assign device in the Assigned To card.
  5. Fill out the fields with the information for the desired user.
  6. Click Assign Device.
This will configure a user's email settings once the device has been assigned to an email address.

Unassigning a Device

  1. Log in to Jamf Now.
  2. Click Devices.
  3. Click the device you want to unassign.
  4. In the Assigned To card, click the Action pop-up menu (•••), and then select Unassign device.
