Blueprints in Jamf Now
Blueprints allow you to easily bundle applications, settings, and restrictions. After configuring a Blueprint, you can assign devices to that Blueprint to deploy selected bundled settings to those devices. Any time you assign a device to a new Blueprint, the device will receive its new configuration from that Blueprint. Any time you update the settings in a Blueprint, the changes will be applied to all devices linked to that Blueprint.
Every Jamf Now account will start with three default Blueprints: Management, Operations, and a third Blueprint that varies depending on your business. You can create additional Blueprints as needed.
A device will always be associated with only one Blueprint. If you have more than one Blueprint, your users will be able to select the appropriate configuration during Open Enrollment. Optionally, you can use a Blueprint's unique URL to bypass the selection process and navigate directly to that configuration.
Blueprints can also be preassigned to devices enrolled with Automated Device Enrollment associated with your Jamf Now account. This can be completed before a device enrolled with Automated Device Enrollment is turned on.
Creating a New Blueprint
You can now add desired apps, settings, and restrictions to the Blueprint.
Copying a Blueprint
Make sure that you have at least one Blueprint already set up and configured in your account. That will be what you select and duplicate in the tutorial below.
Deleting a Blueprint
Every Jamf Now account must have at least one Blueprint. If you attempt to delete the last Blueprint in your account, you will be alerted that you cannot delete this Blueprint.
Setting a Default Enrollment Blueprint
Devices that are enrolled using Open Enrollment are assigned the default enrollment Blueprint if the user-selected Blueprint is unavailable for any reason. Devices enrolled using Automated Device Enrollment are also assigned the default enrollment Blueprint if a different Blueprint has not been preassigned. You can edit your default enrollment Blueprint at any time.
- Log in to Jamf Now.
- Click More Settings.
- Click Devices.
- The current default Blueprint will be listed next to the Default Enrollment Blueprint section. To change the default Blueprint, click the menu arrow to open the pop-up menu and select a new default Blueprint.
- Click Save Settings.
Devices enrolled using Automated Device Enrollment will inherit this default Blueprint unless another Blueprint is explicitly assigned by the Jamf Now administrator. For more information on preassigning Blueprints, see Preassigning Blueprints to Devices Enrolled with Automated Device Enrollment.
Any devices that experience an issue with a user-selected Blueprint will revert to this default Blueprint upon enrollment.
Preassigning Blueprints to Devices Enrolled with Automated Device Enrollment
Any devices in your Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager account associated with Jamf Now will be listed in the Auto-Enrollment section. You can view both enrolled and not managed devices here.
