Login Window Testing

Complete the following workflows to test the Jamf Connect login window:
  • Create a local account with Jamf Connect

  • Log in using a network account

  • Log in with local account credentials

Note:

While Google Cloud ID supports creating local administrator and standard accounts, Jamf Connect cannot be configured to dynamically to support both in the same deployment like other supported cloud identity providers. Jamf's trial environment is configured to create standard accounts.

Creating a Local Account with Jamf Connect

You can use Jamf Connect for just-in-time local account provisioning to create local administrator or standard users.

  1. On your test computer, choose Apple menu > Log out User...
    The Jamf Connect login window displays.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Log in with the Jamf-provided administrator account credentials.
      Note:

      Jamf's Google Cloud ID trial environment is configured to only create standard accounts.

    • Log in with the Jamf-provided standard account credentials.

  3. Complete the Setup Assistant steps.
    The computer completes the setup process and loads the Finder.
  4. Open System Preferences and click Users & Groups.
Depending on which account credentials (administrator or standard) that you used to login, a new local administrator or standard account is created on your test computer.

Logging in using a Network Account

You can use the Jamf Connect login window to log in with network authentication.

  1. On your test computer, choose Apple menu > Log out User...
    The Jamf Connect login window displays.
  2. Use the Jamf-provided trial environment credentials (administrator or standard) to log in.
The computer logs in and the Finder displays.

Logging in with Local Account Credentials

You can use the Jamf Connect login window to log in without a network authentication.

  1. Disconnect your test computer from your network.
  2. On your test computer, choose Apple menu > Log out User...
    The Jamf Connect login window displays.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Click the network selection button in the upper-right of the login window to re-connect to a network.

    • Click the Local Login button in the lower-center of the login window, and then log in without network authentication by entering an existing local account username and password, such as user.connect or admin.connect.
