Unpairing and Disabling Jamf Unlock User Experience

Users can unpair or disable Jamf Unlock from the iOS app or from the Jamf Connect menu bar app.

Unpair
Removes the user credentials and disables Jamf Unlock for the Mac computer. To begin using Jamf Unlock again, the user must complete the setup process again to re-pair the device and computer.
Disable
Temporarily removes the user credentials from the Mac but does not unpair the device. Users can re-enable Unlock authentication from the same device they used to disable it (mobile device or menu bar app on the computer).

Unpairing a Device from the Menu Bar App

  1. In the Jamf Connect menu bar app, click Paired Devices...
  2. Next to the paired device, click Remove.

  3. When prompted, click Unpair.

The Mac computer and device are unpaired, and users are prompted to enter their local password for subsequent authentication requests.

Disabling Jamf Unlock from the Menu Bar App

Disabling Jamf Unlock temporarily removes the user credentials from the computer but does not unpair the device.

To disable or re-enable Jamf Unlock, use the Enable Unlock switch in the Jamf Connect menu bar app or the local login window.

When disabled, users are prompted for their local password to authenticate on their computer.
