Managing Dock Items

Adding Dock items to Casper Admin or the Jamf Software Server (JSS) is the first step to administering Dock items on computers.

When you add a Dock item to Casper Admin, you choose from a list of Dock items that are on the computer running Casper Admin. When you add a Dock item to the JSS, you manually specify information about the Dock item.

When you add, edit, or delete a Dock item in Casper Admin, the changes are reflected in the JSS and vice versa.

Adding a Dock Item to Casper Admin

  1. Open Casper Admin and authenticate to the JSS.

  2. Click Add Dock Items images/download/thumbnails/14453917/Dock.png .

  3. Select the checkbox next to each Dock item you want to add.

  4. Click Add.

Adding a Dock Item to the JSS

  1. Log in to the JSS with a web browser.

  2. In the top-right corner of the page, click Settings images/download/thumbnails/14453917/Settings_icon.png .

  3. Click Computer Management.

  4. In the “Computer Management” section, click Dock Items images/download/thumbnails/14453917/Dock_Items.png .

  5. Click New images/download/thumbnails/14453917/New_icon.png .

  6. Configure the Dock item using the settings on the pane.

  7. Click Save.

Deleting a Dock Item in Casper Admin

  1. Open Casper Admin and authenticate to the JSS.

  2. In the main repository, select the Dock item you want to delete.

  3. Click Delete images/download/thumbnails/14453917/icon_CA_delete.png and then click Delete again to confirm.
