Self Service Mobile

Self Service Mobile for iOS allows you to distribute configuration profiles, apps, and eBooks to mobile devices for users to install. You can use Jamf Pro to group configuration profiles, apps, and eBooks in categories, which makes those items easier to locate in Self Service. Users tap Self Service to browse and install items using an interface similar to the App Store.

In addition, you can send notifications to mobile devices with Self Service Mobile installed. (For more information, see Sending a Mass Notification to Mobile Devices. Also, see the Creating a Link to Content in Self Service Mobile for iOS Knowledge Base article.)

If iBeacon monitoring is enabled in your enviroment, Self Service Mobile is the component that detects when a mobile device enters or exits an iBeacon region.


Self Service for iOS requires mobile devices with iOS 7 or later.

Note: To use Self Service on a device with iOS 11 or later, you must install Self Service v9.101.0 or later. Earlier versions of Self Service will not work on devices with iOS 11 or later.

To require or allow users to log in to Self Service, you need an LDAP server set up in Jamf Pro. (For more information, see Integrating with LDAP Directory Services.)

Configuring the Self Service Settings

The Self Service settings in Jamf Pro allow you to do the following:

  • Install or uninstall Self Service on managed mobile devices.

  • Require or allow users to log in to Self Service with an LDAP directory account.

  • Display in-house app updates in Self Service.

  1. Log in to Jamf Pro.

  2. In the top-right corner of the page, click Settings images/download/thumbnails/16440386/Icon_Settings_Hover.png .

  3. Click Mobile Device Management.

  4. Click Self Service images/download/thumbnails/16440386/Self_Service_MD.png .

  5. Click Edit.

  6. Select “Self Service app” from the Install Automatically pop-up menu and configure the settings on the pane.
    Note: The Self Service web clip will be installed on mobile devices with iOS 6 or earlier. (For more information, see Self Service Web Clip.)

  7. (Optional) Click the App Options tab and configure the User Login setting.

  8. Click Save.

The changes are applied the next time mobile devices contact Jamf Pro.
